Having worked on the Canadian east coast for three years using Acoustic Doppler Current Profiling to predict settlement rates and locations of invasive species, I worked with the UK Environment Agency Geomatics division on habitat mapping using Lidar, CASI and Sentinel imagery to determine beneath canopy and dune-system critical habitats and paleo-channels which posed a risk to flood defences. My Master’s thesis used WorldView-2 imagery and object based classification to detect non-native tree species and their progression northwards as a proxy for climate change. Having recently completed a year-long study with the World Bank on Large-Scale Mining and the drivers of deforestation  – using indicators such as persistence of night lights, canopy density and habitat connectivity – I now work in the Business & Biodiversity programme at UNEP-WCMC where I am a Senior Programme Officer.
